After the Secret Wedding Rise of My Queen

Chapter 270

Chapter 270 You Want Me To Eat That?

It wasn't just Harriet-everyone present was from the high society, the wealthy, and the elite. Very few of them ever stepped into a kitchen. Even when they did, it was usually just to make something simple, like a sandwich or a basic vegetable salad. Barbecue, however, seemed deceptively simple-but it took quite a bit of skill.

To be honest, if someone had never barbecued before or only did it occasionally, the chances of overcooking or burning the food were inevitable.

"We're just waiting for her to embarrass herself, right? Just wait, I'll be sure to take the chance to tease her," Vernon said, just as the irresistible scent of grilling meat hit his nose.

He sniffed the air and followed the smell, freezing when he saw Isabel at the grill.

"Wow, it smells amazing!"

Though he didn't want to admit it, it did smell incredible-better than any barbecue he had ever had before.

"It's just meat. Anyone could grill it without any spices, and it would still smell great. But that doesn't mean Isabel knows what she's doing. Just wait, she'll probably burn it soon enough," Harriet said, convinced Isabel couldn't grill. Harriet herself had no skill with barbeque. She had tried before and failed miserably.

After a moment, Isabel sprinkled her homemade seasoning on the meat.

"Oh my god, what kind of meat is this? It smells so good!" someone exclaimed, unable to stop themselves from drooling.

Despite their dislike for Isabel, even Harriet and Vernon couldn't deny how tempting the smell was.

Rachel, who was also barbecuing, had initially planned to wait for Isabel to burn her meat, and then offer her own perfectly barbecue pieces to Xander.

But...

She found herself growing just as hungry from Isabel's grilling.

Yvette walked over to Isabel, curiously eyeing the seasoning in her hand.

"Isabel, what's in that seasoning? It doesn't look like cumin or anything I recognize," Yvette asked, voicing the question everyone else was thinking.

"I made it myself," Isabel replied casually, not missing a beat as she continued flipping the meat.

"You made it yourself? When did you learn to do that? I didn't know you had this kind of skill," Yvette asked in surprise.

Xander, who had been listening, subtly glanced at Isabel, his dark eyes narrowing with a mysterious glint.

"Just having some time to kill. Thought I'd try making my seasoning, but it's not just about the flavor, though. Barbecue food can be hard on the body, so I added a few herbs to help balance things out," Isabel explained as she continued grilling. Her explanation made some people raise their eyebrows in confusion.

"What do you mean? Did you add herbs? Does she know medicine?" someone asked, puzzled.

"Now that you mention it, I heard Isabel treated Samuel's leg," another person said, dropping a bombshell.

Isabel knew medicine?noveldrama

And she healed Samuel's leg?

Everyone in the room knew that Samuel had been in a wheelchair for years. The Bennetts had spent a fortune looking for top doctors, sending him to the best medical facilities in Mascoisia, but nothing worked.

Yet Isabel had healed his leg? It sounded unbelievable.

"Is that true? Isabel is that talented?" someone asked. Before anyone could respond, Harriet spoke up, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Impossible! Do you believe that? The Bennetts are insanely rich-they've tried every fancy medicine and hired the best doctors. None of them could fix Samuel's legs. Isabel is what, just over 20? Most people her age are still interns in hospitals." Her words made sense, and others began to doubt the rumor.

"Then why would such a rumor spread?"

"Obviously," Harriet said, looking at Isabel with contempt.

"She probably made it up to stay in the Bennetts' good graces. She wanted to make sure people wouldn't look down on her."

"Well, you have a point, but Samuel's legs are indeed better now," Someone hesitated.

"Haha!" Harriet scoffed. "Sure, his legs are better, but what does that have to do with Isabel? I'm sure Xander found the so-called Miracle Healer and brought her in to fix Samuel's legs. That's the only way this makes sense."

Harriet's argument seemed flawless, and the others began to look at Isabel with even more disdain.

They were now convinced that Isabel was shamelessly taking credit for something that had nothing to do with her.

She didn't even know her place,

As the whispers of mockery continued in their minds, the delicious aroma of the grilling meat wafted through the air again.

Someone couldn't help but swallow loudly.

"Wow, that smells incredible."

"Must be done by now."

Indeed, the meat was ready. Isabel picked up a piece and placed it on a plate, offering it to Xander.

"You've never tasted my grilling before. Try it, I guarantee it'll blow your mind. My friends used to beg me to grill for them after they tried it once."

Xander looked at the plate of barbecue meat, then asked, "Your friends? Who? Beowulf?"

Isabel rolled her eyes, thinking

Xander must have been born with a

jealous streak. She had just

mentioned it casually, and he had already jumped to conclusions.

"Not interested? Fine, Yvette, you can have it." Isabel raised the fork toward Yvette's mouth, pretending to feed her.

Just then, Xander grabbed Isabel's arm, took the food from her hand, and brought it to his mouth.

His proximity made Isabel's heart race, and her thoughts scattered.

The moment felt thrilling.

"Hey!" Yvette shivered, rubbing her arms as goosebumps spread across her skin.

Max, holding another piece of meat, offered it to Yvette. "Try it, it's really good."

Yvette, unimpressed, rolled her eyes but noticed Max had already taken a bite from the piece of meat on his fork.

"You're giving me food you've already bitten?" she remarked dryly.

"I don't mind your saliva, so don't mind mine. Come on, open up," Max teased.

"Go away!" Yvette replied, turning her head.

Meanwhile, Rachel was still staring at Isabel, completely forgetting about her grilling. Yvette sniffed the air, wrinkling her nose. "Something's burning! That smells awful." She scanned the area and quickly spotted the overcooked meat on Rachel's grill.

"I can't believe this! Ms. Lawson, if you can't grill, don't bother! You've burnt it all-what a waste! You should have just let Isabel do it," Yvette said, pointing at the ruined meat.

Everyone's eyes turned to Rachel's grill, focusing on her disastrous attempt at grilling.

"Go away!" Yvette replied, turning her head.

Meanwhile, Rachel was still staring at Isabel, completely forgetting about her own grilling.
